Commercialization: Patents

The Penn State Intellectual Property Office manages all intellectual property developed at Penn State, assessing the commercial potential of approximately 200 University inventions per year, formulating and implementing patent and marketing strategies, and negotiating license agreements. Penn State continues to accept equity positions in start-up companies through license agreements. Since 1999, Penn State has executed a total of 29 equity-based licenses.
